Review: art'otel London Battersea Power Station
Set against the backdrop of one of London’s most iconic buildings, art'otel London Battersea Power Station brings a new kind of cool to the capital. Located within the vibrant Battersea Power Station development, the hotel is part of a bold transformation that’s turned this once-industrial landmark into a buzzing cultural and lifestyle hub. With shops, restaurants, art spaces and riverside walks, Battersea is quickly becoming one of London’s most exciting areas—and art'otel fits right in. We stayed last September and loved how effortlessly it blended modern design with creative energy. For anyone looking to experience a different side of London, this hotel delivers.
What to expect: arrival & dining
The moment you walk into the hotel, it’s clear this isn’t your standard city stay. There’s a playful, creative feel throughout the space—think bold colours, striking art installations, and statement interiors curated by artist Jaime Hayon, whose work runs throughout the hotel. Check-in was quick and friendly, with staff happy to share tips about the area and hotel.
There are several dining options to choose from, including JOIA, the rooftop restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, which serves Iberian-inspired dishes with incredible skyline views. Downstairs, Tozi Grand Caféoffers all-day dining with an easygoing vibe—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a relaxed dinner before heading out.
Room Options
Rooms at art'otel are modern and beautifully designed, with artistic details in every corner. We stayed in an Art Room with City View, which felt bright, spacious, and full of personality. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the skyline and the power station. The space included a plush king-size bed, a stylish seating area, and a sleek bathroom with a rainfall shower.
Room categories range from entry-level Art Rooms to larger Art Studios, Suites, and even a Masterpiece Suite with a private terrace. Whichever you choose, expect thoughtful touches, contemporary comfort, and clever design.
Facilities & Activities
The rooftop infinity pool and bar is the standout here, with views over the chimneys of Battersea Power Station and across the Thames. There’s also a well-equipped gym, spa treatments available on-site, and a rotating gallery of contemporary art throughout the hotel.
For something different, the hotel regularly hosts art events, pop-ups and DJ sets, adding to the creative, boutique atmosphere.
Nearby Highlights
The hotel’s location within Battersea Power Station means you're steps away from some of London’s newest shops, restaurants, and bars—all set within the beautifully restored industrial space. The Battersea Power Station Underground (Northern Line) is just around the corner, making it easy to explore the rest of the city.
Nearby, you can walk along the Thames Path, unwind in the beautiful surroundings of Battersea Park, or cross the picture-perfect Albert Bridge into Chelsea. Catch a show at Battersea Arts Centre, and don’t miss the Lift 109experience, which takes you to the top of one of the station’s iconic chimneys and offers incredible 360° views over London—it’s right next door to the hotel.
Summary
Art'otel London Battersea Power Station has quickly become our favourite hotel in London. The location is dynamic, the hotel design is fresh and exciting, and every detail feels curated with care. Whether you're visiting for a romantic weekend, a stylish staycation, or just want to see a new side of the city, it’s a brilliant base. We’ll definitely be back.
