Ginger Moon Review: New Californian Cuisine at W Dubai - Mina Seyahi

Set above the shoreline at W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, Ginger Moon offers something new to the city: a beach club experience without the beach. Overlooking the Arabian Gulf and Dubai Harbour, with the towers of Dubai Marina rising behind, it’s a relaxed space designed for long afternoons and evenings.

At its centre, a large olive tree grows up from the valet area two floors below and stretches through the heart of the restaurant, forming the bar canopy with seating all around. The kitchen is open, so you can see the chefs at work, and there’s a choice between indoor tables or breezy outdoor seating. We visited for dinner (kindly gifted) and stayed well into the night.

We were genuinely impressed by the extensive menu, tucked-away setting and wonderful service. Ginger Moon might just be one of our new favourite dining spots in the city.

What’s on the Menu: New Californian Cuisine

Ginger Moon introduces Dubai to New Californian cuisine for the first time. It’s a chef-led approach built around fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meats, and seafood, influenced by California’s diverse food culture–Mediterranean, Latin American and East Asian. The menu is divided into nine sections: Californian style sushi, snacks, cold vegetals, hot vegetals, sharing, crust, starch, simply grilled and sweets.

To start, we were served warm sourdough with a tomato confit dip while we browsed the menu. We shared sushi rolls: the Crispy Wagyu Beef Sushi, with harissa-spiced beef tartare on crisped rice, and the Flamed Salmon Roll, topped with avocado, dried tomato, tobiko mayo and a kick of sriracha. Both were generous and well-balanced. The Ricotta Gnocchi, with asparagus, sage, and lemon butter, was beautifully soft and cheesyβ€”elevated comfort food done right. The rest of the menu includes homemade crust pizzas, grilled fish and meat and larger sharing-style mains.

Drinks, Desserts & Disco

The drinks list is as considered as the food. There’s a solid mix of classic and signature cocktails, plus a good range of wines, mocktails, and fresh juices. The vibe is lively but not overwhelming. A live DJ was playing while we were there, with the Dubai Marina lit up in the distance, it’s the kind of setting that’s ideal for everything from early drinks to late dinners. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate and Caramel Tart, which comes with olive oil ice cream, salt, and a twist of cracked pepperβ€”sweet, sharp and unexpectedly balanced. A clever finish.

W Dubai - Mina Seyahi

The hotel itself is designed for grown-up getawaysβ€”modern, social and bold. The entrance already sets the tone, with the olive tree visible from the ground floor, stretching up through the building and into the restaurant above. The hotel is located between The Palm and JBR, making it a great base for exploring this part of the city. Rooms are bright and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sea views in most. It’s a polished, contemporary space that reflects the energy of its surroundings without being over the top.
