Best Staycations in the UAE
Staycations have become the new go-toβand honestly, Iβm not complaining. Thereβs something special about switching off without needing a passport or a flight. The UAE makes it easy, with so many incredible spots just a short drive away. Whether itβs a desert escape under the stars, a beachfront hotel that feels like a mini honeymoon, or a sleek city stay with skyline views and spa daysβthereβs something for every kind of weekend.
Some of my best memories from living here have come from these mini getaways. When you slow down and explore whatβs on your doorstep, it reminds you just how much this country has to offer. Iβve pulled together a few of my favourite places to check intoβwhether youβre after peace, pampering, or a change of scenery. Enjoy!
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa
Translation: βdoors to the sun.β THE best weekend away Iβve ever had! Located 45 minutes away from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, itβs the ultimate place to relax, switch off and get that true Arabian experience. The architecture of the rooms, pools and grounds are incredible. The resort is surrounded by untouched desert, where you can ride camels and hold falcons. Oh, and the huge, circular bath tubs are a dream!
Gevora Hotel
Located in Dubaiβs World Trade Center area on Sheikh Zayed Road. Guinness World Records have named the hotel the tallest in the world! The hotel boasts incredible views of the city from the rooms, swimming pools and the Highest View Lounge rooftop restaurant. At night you can see the hotel for miles, as the candle-like roof lights up brighter than any other surrounding skyscraper.
Al Seef Heritage Hotel
Located in Al Seef on the banks of Dubai Creek. This brand new area reflects the countryβs heritage and rich history. The surroundings take you back in time, with the traditional buildings and Arabian architecture. Itβs easy to forget youβre only 15 minutes away from Downtown Dubai as there are no skyscrapers here! Al Seef is also full of shops and restaurants, so thereβs plenty to see and do on the hotelβs doorstep.
The Cove Rotana Resort
Located 80 minutes away from Dubai, in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. This was my first staycation in the UAE and it certainly didnβt disappoint! The Cove is a huge resort set on the side of a hill, overlooking the sea. The standard rooms have incredible views, plus there are water villas with their own private pools.
Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas
Just 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt Saadiyat is where sleek Arabian design meets endless beach views. Tucked away on a stretch of untouched white sand, itβs the kind of place that feels like a total escape. The rooms are spacious and stylish, the service is seamless, and the vibe is all about quiet luxury. Think lazy mornings on your private terrace, long beach walks, and golden hour cocktails by the infinity pool. Youβll leave wondering if you can live here full-time.
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort
Located on the eastern crescent of Palm Jumeirah, Anantara is known for its overwater villasβsome of the only ones in the UAE. The resort has three lagoon pools, six restaurants, a private beach, and a well-regarded spa offering Thai and Arabian treatments. Guests can kayak, paddleboard, or access the water directly from their villa. Itβs a good option for couples or families looking for a quieter side of Dubai with resort-style amenities.
Emirates Palace
Emirates Palace is located along Abu Dhabiβs West Corniche and offers direct beach access, two large pools (one with a lazy river and slides, the other adults-only), a full-service spa, tennis courts, and cycling paths. The hotel has over 300 rooms and suites, all with traditional Arabic design and large marble bathrooms. Itβs quiet, spacious, and well suited for both couples and families. Service is impeccable, and the overall atmosphere is calm despite the scale of the property. Perfect for a relaxed weekend with space to spread out and plenty of facilities on site.
