Qatar

Qatar is a small but wealthy Gulf state on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by Saudi Arabia and surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Its capital, Doha, is a rapidly developing city with modern skyscrapers, high-end hotels, and a growing arts and culture scene. Arabic is the official language, and the Qatari riyal is used, though English is widely spoken. Qatar has a desert climate with extremely hot summers and mild winters. The country is safe, clean, and highly organised, with excellent infrastructure and transport options, including a modern metro system in Doha. Major attractions include the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the Pearl-Qatar, and desert excursions to the inland sea (Khor Al Adaid). Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and continues to invest in tourism. Alcohol is only available in licensed venues. Qatar Airways offers global connectivity through Hamad International Airport, making it a popular stopover destination. While compact, Qatar offers a mix of tradition and innovation, appealing to both luxury travellers and culture-focused visitors.
