Travel Guides:
Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain, located in northeastern Tanzania near the Kenyan border. It rises 5,895 metres above sea level and is a dormant stratovolcano. Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s most accessible high peaks, with several established trekking routes that do not require technical climbing. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most popular routes include the Marangu, Machame, and Lemosho trails, typically completed over 5–9 days. Treks must be done with a registered guide and support team. The climb passes through multiple climate zones, from rainforest to alpine desert and arctic summit. The best times to climb are during the dry seasons: January to March and June to October. Permits are required, and advance booking is essential. The nearest airport is Kilimanjaro International Airport, serving Arusha and Moshi, the main gateway towns. Climbing Kilimanjaro is physically demanding but manageable for fit individuals, making it a popular once-in-a-lifetime challenge.
