Travel Guides:

China

China is the world’s third-largest country by area and the most populous, offering vast geographical and cultural diversity. From the skyscrapers of Shanghai to the ancient palaces of Beijing, China is a blend of rapid modernisation and deep historical roots. Key landmarks include the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Terracotta Army. Outside the major cities, travellers can explore limestone karsts in Guilin, the Tibetan Plateau, and the rural villages of Yunnan. Mandarin is the official language, and the currency is the Chinese yuan (RMB). English is spoken in international hotels and urban areas but is limited elsewhere. Transport is efficient, with a high-speed rail network connecting much of the country. While China requires a visa for most nationalities, the process is straightforward with proper planning. The food varies dramatically by region, from Sichuan spice to Cantonese dim sum. China is not part of the Schengen Area, and internet access is restricted, including many Western apps and platforms. Despite this, it remains one of the most fascinating countries to visit, offering everything from ancient temples to futuristic cities.
